Volunteers Needed

Our foodbank is in high demand and is a lifeline to its many service users.

We are in need of some additional volunteers for various roles.

We need help with:

  • Collecting donations from donation points in the community.
  • Receiving donations at our distribution point.
  • Dating, labelling and sorting food donations.
  • Distribute food parcels to service users and professionals who distribute on our behalf.

Due to the nature of this work, all volunteers are subject to safer recruitment procedures and training.

Most of our work happens on Fridays however, we need help collecting donations during the week. There are some really busy times of the year and community events throughout the year. If you are able to help at all please contact us.

How we can help

Thirteen million people live below the poverty line in the UK, with individuals going hungry every day. Low income, benefit delays and receiving an unexpected bill are just a few reasons contributing to the crisis. Many people find it difficult to cope with the everyday demands facing them.

What we do

Food banks like us offer more than simply emergency food. They provide a sense of community and a point of contact with people who understand and are willing to help.
The Foodbank is behind Central Methodist Church, on Parsonage Lane. It is open every Friday 1pm–3pm (except for bank holidays) for those who need help.

About us

Following the closure of homeless charity BASH Local in late 2017, the Central Methodist Church in Brighouse set up a local food bank to support the homeless and most vulnerable local people. Brighouse Central Foodbank is open to those in need every Friday afternoon.

We are passionate about supporting people in our area and cover the postcodes HD6 and HX3
We are a crisis Foodbank, here to serve those who are the most in need in our community living in food poverty,
We provide three meals per person for three days.
