What we believe

At Brighouse Central Methodist Church –

We believe that the Christian story, as revealed by the Spirit through the Christian Scriptures, is the underpinning foundation of our faith, which offers us – and all of life –value, meaning and hope.

We believe that we are called to respond to God’s love in Christ, living out our discipleship in worship and mission.

We believe that Jesus’ example calls us to be an inclusive community. We affirm the full humanity, equality, and dignity of all people and celebrate the rich diversity of people within our community. That diversity includes a range of opinions, theologies and experiences, as well as gifts and abilities, with each member having an evolving and valuable role to play.

We believe the deepest expression of our faith is found in the way we treat others.

We believe that we are called to follow in the footsteps of Christ by being in solidarity with the oppressed and working toward justice, hope, peace, joy, and love for all.

Our Methodist theology stresses the depth and breadth of God’s welcome for everyone, as no-one is beyond the reach of God’s love.
